The Iowa Great Lakes Trail winds its way through the Iowa Great Lakes region, which offers plenty of outdoor opportunities for visitors-from its popular blue lakes and sandy beaches to quieter natural areas, many protected with INHF assistance. The multi-use Iowa Great Lakes Trail provides local citizens and visitors a safe place to bike, walk, rollerblade, run and cross-country ski.
For a guided bicycle tour, call Okoboji Expedition Co. at 712-332-9001. We have Tuesday and Thursday training rides. We service bicycles, sell bicycle accessories and rent and sell quality bicycles. Kayaks, cross country skis and accessories are available for purchase or rent. The Okoboji Expedition Co. is next to Okoboji Plaza on Highway 71 in Okoboji.
The trail winds along rural, community and nature areas in the heart of the Iowa Great Lakes Region, including Spirit Lake, Okoboji, West Okoboji, Arnolds Park, Milford and Lake Park. (pdf Map)
What To Consider When Getting Kids Into Biking - Once your child’s neck muscles have developed enough to support the weight of a helmet, he or she is ready to accompany you on your rides, either in a childseat or a trailer. Trailers make it easier to carry more than one child, along with the toys and games they might need to keep them entertained along the way. Child seats keep one child seated close to you on the ride. And, as they get old enough to ride a child’s bike, you might consider a trailercycle attached to your bike so they can practice riding with you.
